SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In a grim turn of events, the Sacramento Police Department (SacPD) responded to a distressing shooting incident in the 800 block of Lampasas Avenue on June 12, 2023, at approximately 1:21 p.m. The swift arrival of SacPD patrol officers was met with a heartbreaking scene as they discovered two adult male victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Immediate life-saving measures were undertaken by the officers, and both victims were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Despite the valiant efforts of medical personnel, tragically, both victims succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The gravity of the situation prompted the deployment of SacPD's dedicated Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators, who swiftly took charge of the investigation. Their tasks include meticulously processing the crime scene, conducting thorough canvassing of the area, and conducting interviews with potential witnesses. Their collective efforts aim to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this heinous act of violence.

In accordance with established protocols, the Sacramento County Coroner's Office will withhold the identities of the deceased until their next of kin have been duly informed.

In an effort to gather critical information crucial to the ongoing investigation, the Sacramento Police Department earnestly encourages any witnesses who may possess knowledge regarding this incident to come forward.
