SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two individuals were found dead with gunshot wounds in the 3900 block of Clay Street in Sacramento on June 13, 2023, according to a press release from the Sacramento Police Department (SacPD). The victims, an adult male and an adult female, were discovered by patrol officers who responded to a report of a shooting around 10:13 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers confirmed that both victims had sustained at least one gunshot wound each. Tragically, medical personnel who arrived shortly after pronounced them dead at the scene. The identities of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office once their next of kin have been notified.

The SacPD has handed over the investigation to their homicide detectives and crime scene investigators due to the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigative team will be processing the scene for evidence, conducting a thorough canvass of the area, and interviewing potential witnesses. As of now, the circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation, and no arrests have been made. The police have not provided any information regarding potential suspects involved in the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the investigation to come forward and assist in the ongoing efforts. The SacPD encourages witnesses to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or provide tips anonymously through Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). There is a possibility of a reward of up to $1,000 for anonymous tips, and individuals can also submit information using the "P3 Tips" smartphone app.

Law enforcement officials are counting on the community's cooperation and assistance in shedding light on this tragic incident, which has left two lives lost and a community in mourning.
