Just after 4 a.m. Monday, crews from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire in the 2300 block of Rainbow Avenue.
The first due engine reported that they had a visible column of smoke they could see from their station.
As crews arrived, they had heavy fire coming from a detached garage on the left side of the home, however, the fire was extending to the home and into the attic, according to fire radio traffic.
Eventually, crews were battling the garage fire and a heavy attic fire.
Crews gained control of the fires and ensured everyone was out of the structure.
There were no injuries reported in the blaze, An arson investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
