THIS IS A DIRECT REPOST FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT MEDIA RELEASE

On May 30, 2021 at approximately 9:16 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 5100 block of Scarborough Way for a report of a shooting that had occurred.

Officers arrived and located an adult male who had sustained at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers began rendering medical aid and personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department arrived shortly after to take over medical care. Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect had fled the area prior to the arrival of officers.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. This investigation is in the early stages and information is limited. Currently, there is no suspect information to provide and the circumstances of what led to the shooting are still under investigation. Detectives will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
