Elk Grove Police Department is investigating a vehicle vs motorcycle collision on Willard Pkwy at Blossom Ridge Way.

Witnesses told PSN the rider ran a red light and was hit by a vehicle that had a green light. Witnesses say the motorcyclist went airborne and landed a short distance away on their head, and was not wearing a helmet.

The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to Kaiser South. The driver of the other involved vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with traffic investigators.

The northbound lanes were completely closed, while 1 lane of southbound was closed. The approach to Willard Pkwy from Blossom Ridge was also closed.

ELK GROVE, CA – On April 14, at 3:47 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a vehicle versus a motor driven cycle collision on Willard Parkway and Blossom Ridge Drive.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a two-vehicle collision between a truck and a motor driven cycle. Medical personnel arrived and transported the rider of the motor driven cycle to a local hospital.

Based on information obtained during the preliminary investigation, traffic investigators have determined that the driver of the truck was traveling northbound on Willard Parkway and the motor driven cycle was traveling westbound on Blossom Ridge Drive. The motor driven cycle entered the roadway of Willard Parkway against a red light and struck the side of the truck. The driver of the truck was contacted at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver of the truck did not exhibit any signs impairment from drugs or alcohol. The collision investigation is active and ongoing.

The rider of the motor driven cycle later succumbed to injuries sustained as a result of the collision. Identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
