SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A 1-year-old child has died after being run over by a vehicle Saturday afternoon.
Just before 4:30 Saturday afternoon, Sacramento police officers and paramedics responded to the 900 block of Elmridge Way in North Sacramento for a reported vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
When units arrived on scene, they located a 1-year-old female child who had apparent injuries that came from being run over by a vehicle. Paramedics immediately tended to the child and transported her to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. Despite all efforts to keep the child alive, the child ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
A preliminary investigation by police officers reveals this incident may have been accidental involving another family member. A complete investigation is being conducted.
Community Chaplains were called to the scene and the hospital to help counsel family members.
