SACRAMENTO, Calif. – An investigation is underway into the shooting death of a man in his twenties in near south Sacramento County park.

Sheriff’s deputies responded around 11:00 Saturday night to the area of Fintown Court and Vintage Park Drive for a shooting that just occurred with a reported victim.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they located a man in his late-twenties suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Immediately, life-saving efforts were started by deputies while paramedics responded. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

An immediate investigation of the area began, and Homicide detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene. Several individuals who were at the scene when deputies arrived have been detained for further questioning. It was unknown what those individual’s relationships, if any, were to the victim at the time of posting.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. Sheriff’s officials have not released any suspect description, just saying that the investigation remains ongoing.

The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Coroner’s Office at a later time.
