SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A person has died after being shot late Wednesday in South Sacramento.

Just before 10:00 Wednesday night, Sacramento Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Green Tree Drive near Franklin Boulevard.

When deputies arrived, they found three victims seated in a parked vehicle who had been struck by gunfire. A fourth victim also suffering from a gunshot wound was located inside a nearby residence. Paramedics arrived a short time later and transported the victims to local area hospitals.

The first victim, a 20-year-old male, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and later died at the hospital. The second victim, a 24-year-old male, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper-body. The third victim, a 42-year-old female, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The fourth victim, a 20-year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The second, third, and fourth victims are all expected to survive their injuries.

A preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that the four victims were seated in the parked vehicle when an unknown suspect-vehicle drove alongside and started firing gunshots towards the victims. The suspect-vehicle is being described at this time as just a black SUV containing an unknown number of occupants. Detectives are canvassing the area searching for any witnesses or security camera footage to better assist them in identifying the suspect-vehicle.

The victim was later identified as 20-year-old Colin Jamal Elder of Sacramento.

The motive for this shooting is unknown at this time.
