SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A shooting early Sunday morning has left one man dead at a suspect on the loose.

Around 12:45 Monday morning, Sacramento police officers responded to Anton Way near La Pamela Way in south Sacramento for a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they located an unresponsive adult male in front of a nearby residence on Anton Way. The man had sustained injuries that appeared to be life-threatening. Sacramento paramedics arrived an transported the victim to a local area hospital for emergency treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence and canvass the area for potential witnesses.  No arrests have been made at this time but detectives believe that this is an isolated incident.  A specific motive has not yet been established but the investigation remains active.  Investigators are asking for the community’s help with any information pertaining to this homicide.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
