ELK GROVE – Police are trying to figure out who robbed a Walmart store in Elk Grove early Tuesday morning.

Around 2:30 Tuesday morning, officers from the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the Walmart on Elk Grove Boulevard for a reported robbery.

When officers arrived on scene and contacted the store, they found out that the suspect had successfully gained entry into a cash room and made off with a cash bag containing reportedly around $200,000. An immediate perimeter and search of the neighborhood just north of the shopping center was conducted, but the suspect was not located.

Police haven’t released much information on the robbery, however PSN has obtained information that says the suspect was able to gain entry into an office with a key where the cash room was located, and had a silver gun with him. It is unknown how the suspect had a key to the office.

Police later released a suspect description and a still photo from a surveillance video. The suspect is described as a black male adult, around 5′ 9″, 225 pounds, last seen wearing a white sweatshirt, gray shirt, black pants and brown shoes.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department.
