SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a 25-year-old male after he was shot to death Saturday night in Carmichael.

Just after 11:00 Saturday night, deputies responded for a report of an altercation and a subject down on the 2800 block of Walnut Avenue at the Walnut Wood Apartments in Carmichael.

Deputies arrived and found a 25-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside an apartment. Fire personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Witnesses stated they heard a scuffle coming from the area around the victim’s apartment, and then heard a gunshot. Two males were seen running from the area of the shooting, and shortly afterwards heard a vehicle fleeing the apartment complex towards Walnut Avenue.

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner, after notification has been made to their next of kin.
