WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The IKEA superstore in West Sacramento was evacuated Saturday afternoon after a fire started inside the building.

Just before 4:00 Saturday afternoon, firefighters from the West Sacramento Fire Department responded to the IKEA store for a report of a structure fire. When firefighters arrived on scene they found a fire inside of a maintenance room in the interior of the building. Crews had a knock down on the fire by 4:15 PM.

The building was evacuated per standard protocol. The fire chief approved reopening of the building around 5:00 PM.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by fire investigators. Crews will remain to remove smoke from the building and investigate.
