RANCHO CORDOVA, CA – Just after 3:00 Saturday afternoon, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters responded to a reported fire in a fourplex on Coloma Road in Rancho Cordova.

The first arriving crews on scene reported smoke showing from a downstairs unit. Firefighters forced entry and quickly extinguished the kitchen fire. An aggressive fire attack contained the fire to the kitchen, saving the three other units from any damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however preliminary indications are the fire started near the stove. Total damage is estimated at $10,000.

While fire attack was occurring, other crews searched for two puppies that were reported to be trapped inside the residence. One puppy was able to escape on it’s own, while the other was rescued by Engine 65’s crew.
