SACRAMENTO, Calif. – An overnight shooting outside a popular night club sent one person to the hospital.

Around 1:55 Sunday morning, Sacramento police officers were notified by staff at the Sacramento Main Jail of a walk-in shooting victim in their lobby.

Officers quickly responded to the jail and found the victim suffering from obvious gunshot wounds. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. The severity of the injuries were unknown at the time of posting.

Reports from witnesses indicated the shooting took place outside the Pier Lounge, a recently opened night club on J Street near 5th Street in Downtown Sacramento. Officers responded to the indicated location and found evidence of a shooting nearby. Crime Scene Investigators arrived to process any evidence while officers interviewed witnesses.

The cause of the shooting is currently under investigation by detectives. At the time of posting, no suspect description has been released.
