1 Dead, 4 Injured After Shooting in South Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Detectives are investigating a shooting that left one person dead, and four others injured.

Around 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Sacramento police officers responded to Meadowview Park on 24th Street south of Meadowview Road for multiple reports of a shooting that just occurred. Callers reported multiple victims had been shot.

Officers arrived and found a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics responded and transported that victim to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Officers also determined that at least four other people had been shot, and self-transported themselves or were transported by other parties to local hospitals. Their injuries are being described by police officers as “stable” condition.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded and are investigating the shooting. Preliminary information suggests that a group of individuals was recording a music video in the park when the shooting occurred. A motive for the shooting has not yet been established, but detectives are looking into whether or not the incident is gang-related.

At this time, no suspect description has been released.
