SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Firefighters were called for a special rescue today in North Highlands involving a person and a trash compactor.

Just after 8:35 Sunday morning, firefighters from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to a shopping center located at 5400 Date Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, they found a person who was stuck inside an industrial-sized trash compactor in the rear of the business. It was unknown at the time of posting how the person got stuck in the machine.

For about thirty minutes firefighters worked to delicately remove the person. By 9:05, firefighters reported they had successfully extricated the patient from the machine. Firefighters say the person was able to walk away without injuries.
