UPDATED DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’s OFFICE

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives arrested Joel Tyrone Zeigler (31) of Sacramento County for the April 17, 2022 murder of Robert Earl Daniel (33). Zeigler will also be charged with the shooting and injury of three other subjects during this same incident. Zeigler is well known to law enforcement and is on formal searchable probation until 2034 in connection with a 2022 case, possession for sales of marijuana/hashish. Zeigler is being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail and will appear in Dept. 62 on Tuesday April 26, 2022 to answer for the charges. No further information is available at this time.

DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’s OFFICE

On Sunday, April 17, 2022, at approximately 12:16 a.m., the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call in the 7200 block of Franklin Boulevard regarding a shooting that just occurred. The caller advised that someone had been shot and was lying in the parking lot of a local business.

Deputies responded and located two adult males and one adult female, each suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Deputies began performing life-saving measures on one male victim while awaiting fire personnel. Sacramento Metro Fire arrived a short time later and pronounced the subject deceased at the scene. The other two victims were transported by fire to local area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle before deputies arrived on scene.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence. No further information or suspect information is available at this time.
