Just before 2 a.m. Monday, the Sacramento Police Department received reports of someone attempting to break into a previously burned, boarded-up home in the 7200 block of Luther Drive in the South Sacramento area, according to radio reports.

When first arriving fire units reported in, they stated that they had a previously burned, boarded-up home with heavy smoke coming from the two-story home.

According to radio reports, they initiated fire attack but shortly thereafter, had to back out and fight the fire defensively with atrial streams from ladder trucks and master streams from "deck-guns" atop the fire engines.

The home experienced a total roof collapse.

There were no injuries reported and arson investigators are on scene to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
