Just after 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Truck 4 from the City of Oakland Fire Department, crashed into an apartment building in the 300 block of Grand Ave.
Batallion Chief, Chris Landry stated that five firefighters were on board the truck when it collided. Three of those firefighters, one being the engineer, were transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.
The apparatus has been safely and successfully extricated from the building. This is still a very active scene. Building Engineers, OFD Command Staff and Crews continue to work diligently to shore up the structure at 353 Grand Ave as the tow company begins initial steps to extricate the apparatus from the building.
