SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) — Sacramento police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday in the 3100 block of Buchman Street.

According to a media release from the Sacramento Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting and upon arrival, found a male adult suffering from at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite efforts by officers to administer life-saving measures, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene by fire personnel.

In a statement, the department announced that homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are now leading the investigation. They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses to gather information regarding the circumstances of the incident, which remain under investigation.

According to unconfirmed reports, this incident occurred at an Air B&B home where the booking had actually been canceled. The reports also indicated that a party was taking place at the residence when the incident occurred.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after next of kin have been notified.

The Sacramento Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the investigation to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers can choose to remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app.

The police department is appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation.
