Sacramento, CA – A serious collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle late Sunday evening in Sacramento's north area has left a motorcyclist hospitalized in stable condition, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The incident occurred around 9:19 p.m. near the intersection of Gateway Oaks Drive and W. El Camino Ave, prompting an immediate response from the north area officers. Upon their arrival, law enforcement found both parties involved in the crash present at the scene.

"The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment," the Sacramento Police Department stated in a release. The latest update from medical officials confirmed the motorcyclist is now in stable condition.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the collision. A formal report is being generated as officers work to piece together the events leading up to the accident.

In a related development, the Sacramento Police disclosed that the passenger of the vehicle involved was arrested at the scene on an unrelated felony domestic violence warrant. Further details about the arrest have not been disclosed.
