Just before 2:45 Monday, Sacramento Metro Fire crews were dispatched to reports of a structure fire in the 4900 block of Rimwood Drive in Fair Oaks.

A large column of smoke was observed miles from the incident.

As crews arrived the found a single story residence with heavy fire coming, primarily from the left side of the residence and threatening the adjacent residence.

Fire crews made an aggressive attack, pushing attack lines through the window, attack lines protecting the adjacent structure and getting a shake roof fire under control.

According to bystanders, deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office rescued five dogs from the home.

This is a developing story. We will have more details as they become available along with early action video.
