17-243447 (Reckless Driver): Helena Ave / Taft St at 2243 hours.
An officer attempted to stop a reckless driver in the area. The vehicle fled from the officer leading him on a short pursuit. The vehicle collided into a residence, injuring an occupant whom was asleep on a sofa inside. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot but was quickly caught by officers on scene. The resident sustained minor injuries in the collision and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the collision. Officers responded to the hospital to evaluate the driver for being under the influence. The driver was ultimately arrested for evading, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest.
