ELK GROVE, Calif. – A 24-year-old Elk Grove resident died in a multiple-car collision Wednesday.

Just before 2:15 Wednesday afternoon, paramedics and law enforcement responded to a reported traffic collision with entrapment on Grant Line Road just south of Bradshaw Road.

When personnel arrived, they located a three-vehicle collision with one of the vehicles heavily damaged. Initial reports indicated that one of the occupants of the vehicles may have been trapped, but no extrication was needed after arrival.

One of the vehicles, a black Honda sedan, was being driven by a 24-year-old male. That driver was declared deceased on scene by paramedics. The Coroner later released that driver’s name as David Brenden McDaniel, 24, of Elk Grove. The extent of injuries to the other vehicle occupants were unknown at the time of posting.

The California Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation revealed that McDaniel pulled out in front of an oncoming flat-bed tow truck, causing the collision. The collision remains under investigation to determine the exact cause.

Grant Line Road between Bradshaw Road and Mosher Road was shut down for a few hours while the California Highway Patrol conducted their investigation.

Agencies on scene of the collision were California Highway Patrol, Cosumnes Fire Department, Elk Grove Police Department and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
