Firefighters, Sheriff respond to baby left in hot car

FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the shooting death of a person at a Fair Oaks apartment complex.

Sheriff’s deputies responded around 9:30 Saturday to the Yorktown Arms Apartments at 10501 Fair Oaks Blvd originally for an armed robbery with medical attention needed.

When deputies arrived, they found a subject in the back of a vehicle unresponsive and having apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics were called and transported the subject to Mercy San Juan hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate.

A person was seen running from the area around the time of the call, and after a perimeter was setup, Sheriff’s deputies believe they had detained the same subject.

The name of the victim was unavailable at the time of posting pending identification by the Sacramento County Coroner.
