SACRAMENTO, CA – Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday morning at a South Sacramento apartment complex.

Just after 5:30 Monday morning, deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded to multiple reports of shots fired at an apartment complex on the 4700 block of 50th Avenue in South Sacramento. When deputies arrived they found a 58-year-old male victim with several gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Paramedics from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

Witnesses told Sheriff deputies that two unknown subjects were seen fleeing the area of the shooting on foot. At this time, the Sheriff has not released any further description of the subjects, and are in the beginning steps of the investigation.

The identity of the victim will be released at a later time by the Sacramento County Coroner.
