Light rail train vs pickup truck

SACRAMENTO, CA (Downtown) – The driver of a pickup truck walked away uninjured Thursday afternoon after turning his pickup truck in front of a moving light rail train in Downtown.

Around 1:30 Thursday afternoon, police and fire crews were dispatched to the intersection of 7th Street and Capitol Mall for a report of a light rail train versus pickup truck.

When crews arrived on scene they found a stopped light rail train and a smashed pickup truck. Witnesses say the driver of the Dodge pickup truck made an illegal turn in front of the approaching light rail train, causing the collision. Additionally, witnesses say the pickup truck was pushed by the train at least fifteen feet past the intersection, south of 7th Street.

No injuries were reported, besides a shaken up driver.

More information will be posted when available.
