SACRAMENTO, CA – Just after 1:45 early Saturday morning, the California Highway Patrol started received reports of a pickup truck that had overturned on the 7500 block of Persimmon Avenue in South Sacramento.

CHP along with fire and medic units arrived on scene quickly and discovered a red pickup truck that had rolled over as reported. Crews quickly located the driver of the vehicle ejected nearby, pronouncing him dead on scene.

While an investigation is underway, law enforcement officials on scene told PSN unofficially that the smell of alcohol was evident in the area and that it is initially believed that the vehicle drifted off the roadway onto the soft shoulder causing the driver to lose control.

The Sacramento County Coroner later identified the driver as 20 year old Dionicio Serrano of Sacramento.
