On Monday, September 9, 2013, at approximately 8:21 a.m., Officers responded to the 4400 block of 6th Avenue for a report of an 84-year-old man found deceased inside his home by a family member. Sacramento Fire Department was first to arrive on scene, declared the man deceased and then requested police to respond.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded and conducted a preliminary investigation, spoke with witnesses, photographed the scene and collected evidence. There were signs of possible trauma to the elderly victim’s body which was later confirmed when the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office arrived and examined the victim.

Homicide Detectives are actively investigating, but do not believe this was a random act and are looking into possible motives for this murder.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Coroner’s Office.
