SACRAMENTO, CA (South Sacramento) – Sheriff deputies are investigating a drive-by shooting of a 16-year-old that took place Tuesday afternoon in South Sacramento.
Deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched around 1:10 Tuesday afternoon for a report of a shooting that had just occurred near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and 48th Avenue in South Sacramento. When deputies arrived, they found a 16-year-old male teenager that had been shot. The victim told deputies he was riding his bicycle when all of a sudden multiple gunshots were fired. The victim did not see who did the shooting or where the shots came from.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle and the injuries appear to be minor and not life threatening. He was transported by Sacramento Fire to UC Davis Medical Center.
A nearby witness told PSN they heard multiple gunshots and then saw the teenager fall from his bicycle while on the phone with presumably 9-1-1. The witness goes on to say the victim appeared to be distraught after the shooting.
Sheriff deputies have not released a suspect description or a motive for the shooting.
