SACRAMENTO, CA – Firefighters battled a multi-alarm grass fire Friday afternoon along the American River Parkway.
Around 4:30 Friday afternoon, crews from the Sacramento Fire and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire departments responded to a report of a grass fire near mile-marker three on the American River Bike Trail.
Firefighters arrived and quickly dispatched a second-alarm assignment to respond. “Copter 2”, one of Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District’s two helicopters responded to the incident and conducted water drops, greatly assisting ground crews.
As of 8:30 Friday evening, Sacramento Fire was still on the Parkway conducting mop-up operations and extinguishing several small spot fires, and will be on scene throughout the night.
The cause and size of the grass fire is unknown at this time.
