Sacramento Police Investigate Fatal Shooting on Truxel Road cover

[Sacramento, CA] – The Sacramento Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Truxel Road and Waterwheel Drive. According to the department's media release, the incident took place on the evening of December 20, 2023.

Around 9:51 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of an individual lying in the street in the mentioned area. Upon arrival, they discovered a 20-year-old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. "Officers provided medical aid on scene until relieved by the Sacramento Fire Department," the release stated. Despite the immediate medical attention, the victim was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

In light of the circumstances, the department has mobilized its homicide detectives and crime scene investigators to spearhead the investigation. The team has been processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing potential witnesses. However, the specifics surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once the next of kin have been notified.
