According to a CHP spokesperson, around 2 a.m. Monday, officers responded to eastbound Business 80 near the E Street on-ramp for reported multi-vehicle collision.

When officers arrived, they found three vehicles involved, with major damage to at least one of the vehicles.

At this time, it appears that a suspected DUI driver crashed at on the highway. A good Samaritan driver stopped to assist with the collision. For a reason currently under investigation, a passing vehicle crashed into both the suspected DUI driver and the good Samaritan driver.

One of the victims died as a result of the collision, while the other victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

All eastbound lanes of Business 80 were shut down as officers investigated the collision.
