Around 11:55 p.m. Sunday, deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department responded to College Oak Drive, just south of Auburn Boulevard, for reports of gunshots heard in the area, and a person seen laying on the ground.

When deputies arrived, they found an adult male on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was responsive and the wounds appeared to be non-life-threatening. Paramedics from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded and transported the victim to a local hospital.

A preliminary investigation by deputies determined the victim was walking down College Oak Drive when he was accosted by two black male adults that were riding bicycles. The suspects shot the victim and then fled the area prior to deputies arriving at the scene. Detectives are conducting follow-up investigations and trying to determine the motive.

Detectives are asking anyone with information relating to this incident, to please contact the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP. Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
