PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY PROBATION DEPARTMENT

Sacramento, CA- On October 2, 2018 at approximately 11:45 am, Sacramento County Probation Officers arrested a subject on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) on a felony no-bail warrant. The subject, Larry James Brookshire, age 40, was arrested and placed in the back of the Probation vehicle. Within minutes, Brookshire maneuvered himself into the front seat and proceeded to steal the vehicle.

The vehicle, a blue Ford Explorer, was recovered shortly thereafter at 3291 Truxel Road where, according to witnesses, Brookshire exited the vehicle and ran northbound on Truxel Road. Probation Officers contacted other law enforcement agencies to assist with locating Brookshire, including the California Highway Patrol, Sacramento County Sheriff’s, and Sacramento City Police. As a safety precaution, two local elementary schools, Jefferson Elementary and Bannon Creek Elementary, were placed on lockdown. Both schools have since lifted the lockdowns.

The subject, an approximately 5’8,”140lb. African American male, was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black t-shirt. He may be wearing hand cuffs. He is on PRCS for a prior conviction of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
