Police investigate homicide in Downtown Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA – Detectives were called out Monday evening after a 34-year-old male was found deceased in Downtown Sacramento.

Sacramento Police received a report on the 400 block of Jibboom Street around 8:35 Monday evening for a report of a man found unresponsive. Personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department initially responded and located the 34-year-old male who appeared to have sustained trauma to his upper body. Police officers also arrived on scene, at which point fire personnel pronounced the victim deceased.

Detectives from the Homicide Division and Crime Scene Investigators were dispatched to the scene for assistance. Detectives processed the scene, collected evidence and canvassed the area. Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe the victim had been involved in a physical altercation with an unknown suspect which resulted in fatal injuries. The suspect then fled from the scene prior to police arrival.

A specific motive has not been determined, the investigation continues to be on-going, and no arrests have been made at this time. The identity of the victim is being held and will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner once notification has been made to the victim’s next-of-kin.
