SMUD linemen work quickly to restore power to over 4,000 customers between 3 overnight outages

Sacramento, CA | Early Wednesday morning, law enforcement officers in the South Sacramento area reported seeing the sky light up in the area of Florin Rd. and Florin Perkins Rd. When they got to the area of French Rd. and Elaine Dr., they reported seeing a shower of sparks coming from one of the polls and the area power going out.

SMUD later reported over two thousand customers effected by the outage. SMUD crews worked quickly and had the customers’ power back in service before 2:30 a.m.

At the same time, another power out occurred in the North Sacramento region near in the area of Citrus Heights and Carmichael. An additional two thousand plus customers were impacted by that outage, SMUD’s web site reported. Per SMUD, that outage occurred at 12:35 a.m. and service was expected to be restored by 4 a.m. They reported receiving 144 calls from customers.
