Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived and declared the victim deceased on scene.  The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been struck by a vehicle and the suspect had fled the area after the collision. <\/p>\n<p>The Sacramento Police Department\u2019s Major Collisions Investigations Unit (MCIU) and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation.  At this point in the investigation, information is limited and detectives do not have a suspect description to provide.  Investigators will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for any potential witnesses or evidence. <\/p>\n<p>The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner\u2019s Office once next of kin have been notified. <\/p>\n<p>The Sacramento Police Department encourages any witnesses with information regarding this investigation to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
