{"id":11105,"date":"2021-02-21T18:35:54","date_gmt":"2021-02-22T02:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.psnews.us\/blog\/2021\/02\/21\/chp-fatal-dui-motorcycle-accident-south-sacramento\/"},"modified":"2023-06-01T19:16:03","modified_gmt":"2023-06-02T02:16:03","slug":"chp-fatal-dui-motorcycle-accident-south-sacramento","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.psnews.us\/blog\/2021\/02\/21\/chp-fatal-dui-motorcycle-accident-south-sacramento\/","title":{"rendered":"CHP- Fatal DUI Motorcycle Accident, South Sacramento"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man was arrested for DUI and manslaughter after he hit-and-killed a 65-year-old motorcyclist in South Sacramento.<\/p>\n<p>According to the CHP, a motorcyclist riding a BMW S1000 was traveling southbound Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, and came to a stop in the left turn lane while waiting for the red light at the intersection with Franklin Blvd.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"video regular \">\n<div class=\"embed-container\">\n<div style=\"max-width: 100%; position: relative; padding-top: 56.5%;\"><iframe width=\"200\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5Oh02yHDVdc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" style=\"position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Witnesses told investigators that when the stop light turned green for the motorcycle, the motorcycle entered the intersection. At the same time, a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe ran the red light at approximately 80-90 miles per hour, striking the motorcycle and ejecting the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist came to rest on a nearby sidewalk.<\/p>\n<p>Paramedics responded to the scene and declared the motorcyclist deceased. The motorcyclist was later identified by the Sacramento County Coroner as Raymond Charles Wheeler, 65, of Elk Grove.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Tahoe, identified by CHP as Gonzalez Moreno, 23, of Sacramento, told officers he was driving home from picking up food and admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening. CHP officers conducted a DUI investigation, and determined Moreno to be under the influence of alcohol. Moreno was placed into custody, and later arrested on DUI and manslaughter charges.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image regular \"><picture style=\"\"><source
