SACRAMENTO, CA — Sacramento police are investigating the death of a female adult found in the area of Bercut Drive and Bannon Street, in Sacramento’s River District, shortly after 3 p.m. on March 1, 2025. Officers were initially contacted by the Sacramento Fire Department, who reported the discovery of the deceased individual.

In response to the circumstances, the Sacramento Police Department's homicide detectives and crime scene investigators (CSI) were called to the scene. "Due to the circumstances, our homicide detectives and crime scene investigators (CSI) responded to take over the investigation," said a department spokesperson. "They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses."

The police are withholding further details at this time as the investigation continues. The spokesperson added, "The circumstances of this incident remain under investigation," and further inquiry is necessary to determine whether this incident qualifies as a homicide.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin have been notified.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward. "We encourage any witnesses with information regarding this investigation to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357)," the department said. "Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000. Anonymous tips can also be submitted using the free 'P3 Tips' smartphone app."
