When firefighters arrived at the scene, they reported heavy flames coming from the back of the residence. "The homes on both sides were threatened as well," Sacramento Metro Fire officials said in a media release.

Due to the intensity of the fire, a second alarm was called, but fire crews were able to quickly bring the blaze under control. "The fire was contained to the original structure," fire officials confirmed.

While no injuries were reported, the fire did result in the loss of at least one cat. A fire investigator has been dispatched to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
