SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) – Sacramento Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just before 5 p.m. Tuesday on the 3100 block of Occidental Drive. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found an adult female with at least one gunshot wound at the scene.
Emergency personnel, including officers and Sacramento Fire Department staff, attempted to perform life-saving measures, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident," the Sacramento Police Department said in a media release. "Officers and Fire personnel attempted life-saving measures, however, they were unsuccessful."
At this time, one male has been detained as part of the investigation. "We are still investigating his involvement, if any," the release stated. Authorities believe the incident is confined to the residence.
The investigation remains active as police work to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
