SACRAMENTO, Calif. (PSN) – Early this morning, Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded to a distress call from a transient male near Howe Avenue and El Camino Avenue. The caller, a man in his 60s, reported being stabbed in the face.

Deputies arrived at the scene around 4:00 AM and located the caller, providing immediate medical assistance. They then discovered a second male victim in his 30s, who was unresponsive and had also been stabbed in the face.

Sgt. Amar Gandhi, Public Information Officer for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, provided details on the incident. "Deputies began life-saving measures and were actually able to resuscitate him," Gandhi stated. "Both subjects were transported to the hospital. Right now, the original caller is stable and expected to survive. The second subject, however, is in critical condition."

Detectives have been on the scene, collecting evidence and canvassing the area for additional information. "You'll see detectives here again canvassing the area, looking for video, looking for everything else," Gandhi added.

An unusual aspect of the case involved one of the victims who sustained superficial burns. Gandhi clarified, "Apparently, one of the victims was holding a cigarette, and from there, his shirt caught on fire. We don't think that anything related to the assault caused the burns."

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
