DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Just before 9 P.M. on Monday, May 8, 2023, Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Fawn Hollow Way in Antelope regarding a vehicle collision where someone may have been shot. When deputies arrived, they discovered a 20-year-old unconscious male suffering from a gunshot wound seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Deputies and fire personnel began life-saving measures, but the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene a short time later, interviewed witnesses, and gathered evidence. After an exhaustive investigation, Sheriff’s Homicide detectives learned the victim and his girlfriend agreed to meet and purchase narcotics from another male, later identified as 19-year-old Randall WATANABE, at the Firestone Park in Antelope.

WATANABE was charged with PC 187(a) – Murder; and PC 211 – Robbery

Upon their meeting, WATANABE attempted to rob the victim for his money at gunpoint. As the victim tried to drive away, WATANABE shot the victim, causing him to crash into a parked car several hundred feet from the shooting scene. WATANABE then fled the scene in another vehicle.

23-year-old Leah PEREZ charged with PC 211 – Robbery; and PC 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy

Homicide Detectives identified 23-year-old Leah PEREZ as the getaway driver and 18-year-old Oscar SILVESTRE as the subject who coordinated the drug deal between the victim and WATANABE. All three suspects were taken into custody on May 9, 2023, and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.

18-year-old Oscar SILVESTRE charged with PC 211 – Robbery; and PC 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy

WATANABE was charged with PC 187(a) – Murder; and PC 211 – Robbery. PEREZ and SILVESTRE were each charged with PC 211 – Robbery; and PC 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy.

All three suspects are ineligible for bail and are scheduled to appear in court on May 11, 2023, at 3:00 P.M.
