DETAILS FROM THE WEST SACRAMENTO FIRE DEPARTMENT

At approximately 1:00 a.m. on December 16, WSFD crews responded to numerous 911 calls reporting a structure fire in a commercial building on the 3200 block of Jefferson Blvd.

Responding WSFD crews arrived on scene and observed a large working fire with 75-100 foot flame lengths in an automotive repair business, as well as an upholstery business. The fire was quickly upgraded to a second alarm, bringing in automatic aid from Sacramento, Davis, Woodland, and UC Davis Fire Departments.

Due the heavy volume of fire and degree of involvement, a defensive posture was taken, with crews protecting adjacent businesses from the fire and using aerial streams and large handlines to bring the incident under control. The fire was brought under control at approximately 2:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
