DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On October 20, 2022 around 12:35 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 3900 block of N Street for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located a male adult with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene for evidence, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses. This investigation is in its early stages and the exact circumstances are still being followed up on, however, detectives believe that an apparent robbery preceded the shooting. The investigation is very active and there is no suspect information to provide at this time.

“This is yet another example of vulnerable people in our community being tragically affected by gun violence. The community is right to be outraged at this unacceptable behavior,” said Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester. “As your Chief of Police and a member of this community, violent crime will not be tolerated in our city. The Sacramento Police Department is committed to investigating this incident to the fullest extent, sharing information with our community as it becomes available, and addressing individuals who choose to drive violence in our community.”

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
