POLICE: Shooting | Homicide Investigation | South Sacramento cover

DETAILS DIRECTLY FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On October 3, 2022 just before 3:10 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 6200 block of Elder Creek Road for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male who sustained at least one gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures however the male was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. The circumstances, including motive, of this incident remain under investigation. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
