“Since April 3, 2022, Sacramento Police Department Detectives have worked to identify and locate involved parties related to the K Street Shooting.
“On April 12, 2022, a news release was issued containing information related to Mtula Payton having multiple felony warrants for his arrest. Additionally, evidence suggested he was among the shooters involved in the K Street Shooting.
“On May 3, 2022, an additional arrest warrant was issued for Mtula Payton for multiple counts of murder related to the K Street Shooting.
“Through their relentless investigation, our detectives developed information that Payton was residing at an apartment complex located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our detectives relayed this information to Las Vegas Metro Police Department in an effort to apprehend Payton. Las Vegas Metro Police Department worked with our detectives for weeks in an effort to locate Payton.
“On May 28, 2022, officers from the multi-jurisdictional Las Vegas Metro Police Department/FBI Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested Payton at a residence in the 1300 Block of East Hacienda Avenue.
“Payton will be booked into a custodial facility in Nevada and later transported to Sacramento where he will be booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
