DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On April 17, 2022 at approximately 9:22 p.m., officers responded to the 2300 Block of Sandcastle Way regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid to this individual who was later transported to an area hospital for treatment. Despite these efforts, this individual was later pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation and will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for evidence and witnesses. This investigation is in its early stages and the motive for this incident remains under investigation. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.

ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS BY PSN

While in route, officers also received reports of a white mini-van involved which was fleeing the scene, according to radio traffic. A responding officer spotted the van driving recklessly and running red lights.

A felony stop was executed and the driver was taken into custody on El Camino Ave. at Clay St. When CSI arrived on scene, a GSR test (Gun Shot Residue) was used on the suspect's hands.
