Just after 2:30 Sunday morning, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a vehicle vs semi-truck with vehicle driver trapped, on Northbound Watt Avenue at the Westbound Interstate 80 offramp.

According to bystanders, the vehicle ran the red light crashing into the truck coming off of the freeway.

When fire crews arrived, they found the vehicle crashed into the side of the truck. The vehicle struck and split one of the truck's 50-gallon fuel tanks, spilling fuel all over the roadway.

The vehicle driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the hospital via paramedic ambulance in unknown condition. The truck driver was uninjured.

Metro Fire's HazMat 109 responded for the HazMat situation.

At the time of this posting, Northbound Watt Ave is shut down and traffic is being diverted onto Westbound Interstate 80.
